The Utah House of Representatives is committed to providing every Utah child with a quality education and opportunities for a bright future. Over the past five years, the Legislature has increased state funding for public education by $1.8 billion, a 44.2% increase.

 This includes a 28% increase to the weighted pupil unit (WPU) over the last 5 years. This funding goes directly to school districts, providing them with additional resources to support students, educators, and classrooms. 

Every student and family is different, which is why we are providing educational options for parents and families through proactive policies. In recent years, we made strategic investments in literacy support, career and technical education, and personalized learning opportunities to help every student succeed. 

Teachers do life-changing work each day. We recognize that their jobs are not easy, and their impact reaches far beyond the classroom. We are supporting Utah teachers by raising teacher salaries to the 4th highest in the nation, increasing paid professional time, providing stipends for student teachers, reimbursing teachers for supplies and materials, and more.
