The Utah House of Representatives is committed to providing every Utah child with a quality education and opportunities for a bright future. We know a strong education starts in the classroom. That’s why over the last 4 years, we have increased public education funding by $2.3 billion, or 35.5%. This includes a 28% increase to the weighted pupil unit (WPU) over the last 5 years. This funding goes directly to school districts providing them with additional resources to support students, educators, and classrooms. 

Every student and family is different, and we are meeting their unique needs through proactive policies. In recent years, we made strategic investments in literacy support, career and technical education, and personalized learning opportunities to help every student succeed. 

Teachers do life changing work each day. We recognize that their jobs are not easy, the responsibility they carry is significant, and the impact they make reaches far beyond the classroom. We are supporting teachers by funding Educator Professional Time (32 hours per educator), Stipends for Future Educators, and Teacher Supplies and Materials reimbursements .
