Affordability
Utah families continue to face growing financial pressure from inflation, rising prices of housing, childcare, transportation, and everyday living costs. The Utah House of Representatives is committed to making life more affordable for Utahns by allowing them to keep more of what they earn and taking measures to lower costs where it matters most.
Over the past six years, lawmakers have reduced the state income tax by 11%, lowering the rate to 4.45%. Additionally, the Legislature expanded the Child Tax Credit, reduced the state gas tax by 15%, and supported childcare options through tax credits for employers who provide childcare benefits. These measures aim to reduce major cost pressures on working families and improve access to essential services.
