Opinion: Let States Lead: A Bipartisan Call to Restore America’s Balance

Too much governing power has shifted from the states to Washington, contributing to political polarization and one-size-fits-all policies that overlook the differences among states and communities. Utah lawmakers argue that restoring the constitutional balance between state and federal government can bring decision-making closer to the people.

Utah’s bipartisan National Federalism Initiative seeks to advance that work by educating policymakers and citizens, building a coalition of state leaders across party lines, and strengthening the states’ role in the federal system. The goal is not partisan advantage, but a governing structure that works regardless of which party controls Washington.
