LOWER TAXES

REDUCE THE TAX BURDEN ON UTAHNS

Utah’s fiscal conservatism continues to drive our nation-leading economy. It’s no mistake we’ve been ranked the state with the best economic outlook for seventeen consecutive years. This session, we will once again cut taxes to ease the financial burden on Utahns and make life more affordable.

MAKE PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENTS FAIR AND TRANSPARENT

Utah's property tax rates are among the lowest in the nation. However, we understand that Utahns are feeling the pinch. While almost all property taxes are imposed at the local level, this session, we will work to ensure the property tax assessment process is fair and doesn’t place an undue burden on Utahns.

AFFORDABLE HOMEOWNERSHIP

SUPPORT THE AMERICAN DREAM OF HOMEOWNERSHIP

Keeping the American dream of homeownership within reach – now and for future generations – offers Utahns the foundation for a high quality of life and financial security.

We remain dedicated to reducing regulations and streamlining processes to make homeownership accessible for Utahns at every stage of life.

Across the country, government regulations account for more than 20% of the price of building a new home. The legislature has helped to reduce these costs by streamlining the building approval process and removing unnecessary regulatory burdens, and we will continue to do so.

ECONOMIC PROSPERITY

STRENGTHEN BUSINESS-FRIENDLY POLICIES FOR KEY INDUSTRIES

Utah tops almost every list of successful states, no matter the metric. Our vibrant economy comes from our hardworking and innovative people supported by commonsense policies that keep the government out of the way.

We’re committed to reducing the burdens the government places on individuals and businesses to help Utahns prosper.

STREAMLINE OCCUPATIONAL LICENSING

Utah is knocking down artificial barriers to the job market, strengthening workforce mobility and the economy in the process. For too long, unwieldy licensing requirements have kept qualified workers on the sidelines. Now, the Beehive State is leading the nation with its research-backed approach to occupational licensing reform through the newly created Office of Professional Licensure Review.

This session, we will address licensure standards to maintain consumer safety, alleviate workforce shortages, boost job opportunities, and increase mobility for workers.
