As The People’s House, we are committed to ensuring an efficient and responsive government for Utahns.

By fighting back against federal overreach, maintaining transparency and security in Utah elections, and keeping agencies accountable at the state level, we can protect Utah from federal mismanagement and maintain an accountable state government for our citizens.

FIGHTING FEDERAL OVERREACH

STAND FOR UTAH'S LANDS

Over the past four years, the Biden Administration has repeatedly raised legal and regulatory barriers, making it harder for Utah to govern Utah. We have fought federal overreach at every turn and will continue to do so.

Nearly 2,000 miles away, bureaucrats in Washington D.C. are making management decisions for Utah’s lands. Unfortunately, because of a new Public Lands Rule, the federal government is shutting down access to Utahns' favorite recreation spots and limiting activities we’ve done for generations on public lands like camping, hiking, biking, fishing, and driving off-highway vehicles.

PUSH BACK AGAINST ONEROUS REGULATIONS

From onerous and unrealistic environmental regulations to restricting public access to recreation spots, the federal government has demonstrated its unwillingness to work collaboratively with state officials to address the needs of our citizens. As a state, we will fight for Utah’s right to govern ourselves and push back against federal overreach.

In addition to the lawsuit Utah has filed challenging the BLM Public Lands Rule, the Attorney General’s Office, with the support of the Legislature, has argued against federal overreach:

LABORATORY OF DEMOCRACY

Whether it’s education, transportation, Medicaid, or public lands – Utah has proven time and time again that we can manage our state’s affairs more effectively, efficiently, and affordably than the federal government. We can also stretch our tax dollars further when federal strings aren’t attached. As such, we will petition the federal government to let Utah stand as a national experiment, allowing us to keep a portion of our federal tax dollars and run the programs ourselves.

SECURE ELECTIONS

MAINTAIN TRANSPARENCY AND SECURITY

Secure and transparent elections are the bedrock of our democracy. We will ensure that votes are cast legitimately and counted accurately to uphold the integrity of our elections and guarantee the will of the people is represented. A recent legislative audit found that Utah’s signature verification error rate has been as high as 4%.

STRENGTHEN ELECTION PROCESSES

Robust voter verification, secure data handling, and open communication enhance public confidence in elections. Transparency in how votes are collected, counted, and verified mitigates misinformation, ensuring that elections remain free, fair, and trusted.

IMPLEMENT IMPROVEMENTS FROM 2024 ELECTION AUDITS

Continuous improvement is essential to maintaining the highest standards for Utah’s democratic process. Over the coming years, we will implement the recommendations from our most recent legislative audit of the 2024 elections.

AGENCY ACCOUNTABILITY

HOLD GOVERNMENT AGENCIES ACCOUNTABLE

State agencies play a critical role in serving the people of Utah by implementing policies adopted by elected representatives. Legislative audits are a powerful tool to ensure agencies are maximizing taxpayer funds. The legislature will improve our audit process to ensure that agencies implement audit recommendations and maximize the impact of taxpayer funds.
